Important Update: Region-Specific Autel TCP Cards

At Triad, as an authorized distributor for Autel North America, we’re committed to making sure you get the right coverage and capabilities for your Autel diagnostic tools. As part of Autel’s updated policy, TCP cards are now continent-specific—meaning only North American-designated TCP cards will activate on North American Autel tools.

There are many unauthorized online outlets for Autel products that sell products originally designed for the Pacific Rim market, namely China including Total Care Program (TCP) cards. If a card is purchased from one of these unauthorized distributors selling TCP cards intended for another region, it will trigger an activation error. The good news? Any cards purchased from Triad are authorized for use on North American tools, so your investment in tools and ongoing TCP renewals is safe when dealing with Triad.

How to Avoid Activation Issues:

  • Always buy TCP cards from Triad—your trusted, authorized U.S. distributor
  • Avoid purchasing from unfamiliar or international sources that may sell incompatible cards

Understanding the U.S. Vehicle Emissions Rollback

In a major policy shift, the Trump administration rolled back federal vehicle emissions and fuel economy standards originally set under President Obama. These rules aimed for an average fuel efficiency of 54.5 mpg by 2025. The revised standards lower that goal to around 40 mpg, with the stated intent of reducing vehicle costs and making newer cars more accessible to consumers.

Why It Matters

Supporters claimed the rollback would boost auto sales and allow Americans to upgrade to safer vehicles. But environmental and public health groups pushed back, warning the change could result in 1.5 billion more metric tons of carbon emissions—a serious setback in the fight against climate change.

State and Industry Response

California, along with 22 other states, launched legal action to maintain its right to enforce stricter emissions rules under the Clean Air Act. This ignited a broader debate over state versus federal authority.

Meanwhile, the auto industry was divided. Brands like Ford, Honda, BMW, and Volkswagen struck a voluntary deal with California to uphold stronger standards. Others supported the rollback to avoid a patchwork of regulations across different states.

What’s at Stake

The rollback raised important questions about environmental policy, regulatory consistency, and the future of clean vehicle technology. As legal battles continue and new administrations shape policy, the long-term impact of this decision will be felt across public health, climate efforts, and the automotive industry itself.
